Some sanity seeking in through the muck? Well put, Dan.

Every organization that I belong to offers some type of benefits to the
membership and, as you pointed out, the MVPA has many opportunities to
expand in various directions. Of course, they support the hobby in the
always important political arena, which is very expensive. But, as a
means of enticing new members into the organization, the political
support often ignored. On the other hand, the tangible benefits of
discounts is paramount in the recruitment campaign.
