Diesels in gear

Last night, I was at our county fair watching a school bus demolition
derby and in one round a guest driver from a radio station was piloting
a bus. He could not drive a manual transmission so he stalled right
away. He gave up and got out leaving the bus in gear. Within 30 second
the bus took at hit to the front end and then started roll and kept on
rolling. The bus then ran over a small jersey barrier and wedged it
under the axle. Even then the back wheels kept trying to back up until
someone jumped it and shut it off. Lucky the barrier was there because
if it had passed the barrier it would have introduced the derby to a
squad car and brush fire truck. So, always remember to leave it on
neutral.
