I have never been checked for fuel type here in Texas. DPS checks the
truckers often, but I have not heard of anyone checked while driving a
PU. As much as the state is trying to collect fines and combined with
the high fuel prices, they may start checking anytime. The off
road/farm fuel here has dark red dye and I have heard that is what
they are looking for.
There were some tax breaks for making bio-diesel. I don't remember the
in and outs of cashing in on it. I think the veggie van site has a
link to it.
I thought about paying the tax on a hundred gallons or so then keeping
the paper work as a point to show an officer.
So far my alternate fuel has been for power generation.
