Engine design info?

Do any of y'all know where I could find some design-related information
about the engines in my various MVs? I'm looking for the kind of
information that would be needed to specify and design an engine into a
vehicle, such as:

* External dimensions and weight
* Mounting details
* Output shaft and bell housing details
* Power, torque and fuel consumption curves

I've had little luck finding that kind of information so far, and the
TMs don't provide enough detail there. I did manage to find an old
Detroit Diesel brochure on eBay which provides much of that information
for the 6V-53 and 8V-53, and I'd love to find similar stuff for other
engines.

The particular engines I'd like to learn more about are:

* LDT-465/LDS-465 series
* GM 6.2 liter V8 diesel
* Detroit 3-53
* 4A084
* Onan diesel on my MEP-003A

Those are engines that I have in my vehicles and generators. I'd be
interested in information about other MV engines, too. I guess that
details about the related transmissions and transfers would be
interesting, too. If I can find enough not-copyrighted information to
make it worthwhile, maybe I'll compile the information on my web page.

This all started when I started wondering what the smallest vehicle I
might be able to cram a Detroit 3-53 (or other 53-series engine) into,
simply because I love the sound my Gama Goat's engine makes. :-)

A related question: If an engine and transmission both are specified to
have the same bell housing (i.e., SAE #2), will they generally mount up
to each other easily, or can there be a lot of variation in shaft
connection details that could make them not mate up well even if the
bell housing bolt holes line up? I have almost no experience in this
area. I have an old WW-II SAE handbook which lists standard SAE bell
housing dimensions, but as I recall it doesn't describe
shaft/flywheel/etc. details.

Thanks in advance for any leads!
