I had always thought, that if it didn't disengage that the clutch plate was
fine.... that it was only damaged if it slipped? Didn't think they could
'stick'.

Am I wrong?

I did check the master cylinder and it is full. It wasn't shifting
smoothly for most of the trip. But it was completely disengaging.
Felt like it was grabbing or something. I fear the clutch plates are
damaged. It is already on its second slave cylinder.
