Snap On has always marked tool years and if government.
any good tool collector has a sheet identifying the
year. I searched the internet and come up with one like

Looks like they started marking for Government in 1945.
I have seen recent sockets with G markings. I think it depends if
they were bought through national contract or State. Have
never tested the Snap On policy, but heard they
will not replace ones with government stamp in civilian
hands. I am sure as they cut up there sales routes and hired
young help, you can probably slide some by.
