Do a Google search for Corroseal. This stuff is used to protect such things
as steel ships and
the submerged legs of offshore oil rigs in salt water. Rugged stuff.

I have used roofing cement before. It takes a longer
time to "cure" or dry, but I think it is very
inexpensive and durable. I have even used it on old
trucks with rusted floors and it lasted for years.
