Well list.. it has been done. My dad had a 47 Willys and a 55 he swore by
just that oil filter on these two.. a hold over from the depression I
guess.. all the years he had these never had a problem with any engine
issues. Of course the real cars he used the drop ins or spin offs per
directions. Worked fine.. but of course this was before sented charmin..

Also used an old cookie sheet with coal lit up under these on hideously cold
nites to keep things from freezing up.
