Aaron,
Surprisingly all those fittings were available at my local NAPA dealer. I
had to bring the old ones in & go through everything in the storage bins
until I matched the correct sizes & thread. I could not stop a leak until
I replaced the fittings & a line.

A couple weeks ago at a war-game a minor fuel leak became a major
problem. The brass elbow that plugs into the output side of the fuel
pump (dual action, military, recently rebuilt, etc etc) was leaking so
bad that there wasn't enough fuel working it's way to the carb. Those of
you familiar with the M38A1 know that the fuel like to the carb snakes
all over the engine on it's way up, and it's quite a line.
With gasoline being so thin and getting all over the elbow and then
running down and making the entire base of the fuel pump moist, it's
hard to tell what side of the elbow the leak is on. My guess is it's on
the fuel line side, being those threads are so thick. This is an
original elbow, on new repro fuel lines.
My question... I'd like to use some sort of sealant goo to junk up these
threads so it doesn't leak. What should I use? Does anybody have
experience with using a sealant on fuel lines that's good enough for
gasoline? Something it won't eat through?
Now these brass elbows are rare and hard to find, but I did buy a
handful of various repro ones at the last MV meet, so I might have a new
one to screw in. If I can only find that bunch, and have one that
actually fits. Even still, I'd rather not take risks with fuel and goop
up that elbow and seal it nicely - being that it's so close to that nice
hot exhaust manifold...
