Yep ,they are for fire extinguishers. there never was a designated
location for a larger extinguisher on any wrecker M62 ,543 or 816 that I
ever saw even though An extinguisher was a required piece of equipment. the
three small one were all that were in the system prior to Vietnam as far as
I can remember . Later units as they became available, started to mount the
larger cans on the front fenders. Vinny
