Hi Ted!
I did as you suggested. After putting 12v to it and pushing down on the
screw, it held high idle. What does that mean? Temp switch?

Stu:

With the motor running, 12V on that solenoid, press the adjusting screw
down a little, the one that runs through the solenoid.
If its good, it should stick down a little until you remove the 12 volts.

The solenoid doesn't have enough force to move
the throttle, but enough to hold it at the fast idle setting.
You normally need to press the pedal a little when you turn the
ignition on to get the solenoid to hold it. I'm assuming this
coil and the temp switch are all good.

Do you get a little spark at the terminal?
