Tiger battle tracks were 28.5 inches wide, so wide that a separate 20.5
inch wide
transport track was also provided. When unloading from a train to go into
action,
the first step was to change from the transport tracks to the battle tracks.
Of course hauling the extra tracks created additional logistic problems,
and consumed more material per tank.
