As was said before, check to make sure you are attempting removal in the
proper direction. Wire brush well and use Kroil or PB Blaster
(available at Walmart). I have had to use a 1" impact to get the nuts
off my 5 ton. And they were not very corroded. A 3/4" wrench could not
do the job.

Harbor Freight has reasonably priced 1" sockets and they often times go
on sale.
