I agree with you 100%. I was just saying that I had no personal experience
moving a Huey without removing the blades. The only times that I moved one
by trailer was from Wilco Aviation in Alabama to Arcola Texas. The best
times were when we bought one that was flyable under a temporary
"experimental" certificate. We'd fly down, pay the man, pre-flight and head
west down I-10. We would buy Hueys from Wilco and change them over to
civilian 205 models. Then we would either fly them on contract or customize
them to a customer's specs for direct sale to them. It was a great job, one
of the best I ever had. Some of the custom jobs were something to see
indeed!!!! I would never display a Huey without blades, it does look like
crap.

We are restoring a Huey for our American Legion Post that I am a member of.
It's been delayed due to major back surgery that I had in October but will
hopefully be back on track soon. Donations of parts and money is going very
slowly but we're hoping that it will turn around now that Christmas is over!
We traced the history on her thanks to a very good person on this list. She
was in Vietnam, Germany and Korea. Got shot a few times and we even found
the bullet hole repairs just where the paperwork said that they were! She's
not too bad as far as major airframe and engine items go but the
transmission, main rotor blades, tail rotor blades and some missing
instruments are a problem. Best of luck with yours! If I can help in any
way please let me know, I'd be glad to.

Best Regards,

Ed

> Well I would think removing the blades would be a pain to remove so you
can move it from show to show, so I'd think you would want the bar. I
have seen some hueys towed and displayed without the mast and blades and it
looks like crap!! I have also seen the skid hight shortened and that looks
like crap too. One of the better trailer set ups I have seen is the FLA
chapter of the VHPA. A bonus on trailering a huey, without a engine.....she
is light!!!!! But not as nice as a OH-6.....that even has folding blades!!
Let me know what you do.......Our MV club is in the process of getting "I
hope" a MIKE model donated to us.
