It would depend on how big the boat was.

Now, if you were to make a small, low, racy,
aerodynamic speed boat with one engine/fan unit on
each rear sponson,.........

You might want to make one run backwards so the fans
would counter-rotate. Two blower units would keep the
operator's postition from "shading" a single fan.
