RE: Halftrack re-engine projects IDF

That proves it, my friends Halftrack wasnt the one on the Bethune run as he
rather stupidly put in a stream and siezed the engine - so ANOTHER ex IDF
International has the same amazing speed....

I think the gearbox is standard. There was an ex IDF around with a Leyland
diesel that was just not man enough for the half track - no idea what
happened to it.

It was definitely Israeli as it had 'known' history, sand paint job under
the Olive Drab and the owner found numerous items with Hebrew writing on
during the restoration including the twin fuel tanks, old food packaging and
several live 50 cal rounds. The odd thing is the Petrol engine and manual
'box. The HT must have been released before the re-engining programme took
place. Does anyone know when this was?
As for the ported engine, I would definitely agree: he had it on the Bethune
run in France last year and he was having to keep his speed down to let
jeeps catch up! We had been told that White and International gearboxes were
interchangeable. Maybe this is the case once the gearbox bell housing has
been swapped? Next time someone has a HT engine or gearbox out, could I
request that they measure the bell housing diameter and let me know?
