While I agree with Chris's basic position, he is not completely accurate
in your facts. The federal regulations only prohibit a Federal Firarms
Licensee (FFL) from selling or transfering a handgun to a person under
the age of 21. Several states have a lower age requirement; my own state
of Michigan allows 18 year olds to own and possess handguns. Thus, in
Michigan, a parent or guardian may purchase a handgun and legally give
it to thier 18 year old child. But I do agree that the Federal 21 year
old requirement is crap. -- Lee
