You have been incorrectly informed. A defective alternator, military or
civilian, will draw down a battery. A non-defective one will not.
The defect is generally shorted diodes. There are several in an alternator.
If one or more short out, there will be a draw. See an alternator wiring
diagram, and you will understand why.

| Hello -- I've been informed the military alternator
| will draw current even while sitting.
| I've been advised to get a "battery disconnect"
| & mount on batts to eliminate this draw.
