Just bought one of those lights for my deuce in ok condition at Aberdeen.
Paid $15 for it. Did I get taken?

Where would you mount it in a deuce? (no top) On the back wall, or
somewhere on the dash?

Lights are helpful in cab interiors, and I've seen the APC-type "battle
light" unit-installed on M151s, M35/M54/M109s and the odd CUCV (the kind
with the red or green light activated just by turning the switch, and the
larger white light activated when you press a lockout button and flip the
lever in the opposite direction.) You can't 'accidentally' turn it on, and
even if by some fluke you drag your jacket across it or what-have-you,
you'll just get the red or green low-vis light instead of nasty white light.
I've got one mounted in my M1009 on the roof at the point where the steel
cab becomes the fiberglass back body shell and it nicely illuminates both
radio positions. I even left the 24V bulb in it and just took power from
the 24V junction block provided for the comms stuff. Works great. I use it
just about daily in the winter.

The only factory light the M1009/M1008 come with in the cab is the map
light/footlight previously described, which only comes on when you turn the
dashlight dimmer/main light knob until it reaches its stop (just like the
dome light in same-period Chevy stuff on civvy-side.) It throws a fair bit
of light if you find yourself bitten by a sudden desire to inspect your
passenger's shoelaces, but unless you like reading maps two feet below the
dashboard you probably won't use it much.
