It gave the Argies pause and dissuaded them from
running anything but the Pucara's from Port
Stanley. The Mirage II fighters were withdrawn to
cover Argentine land proper since Vulcans could
hit the Falkands they could ALSO hit Argentine
bases in Argentina. This meant that the Harriers
had free reign over the Islands save for worries
of ground fire.
