I had exactly the same problem with my M35A2C when I first installed a govt
rebuilt LDS-465. The truck would start and idle fine and it had good power up
to 2000rpm. Power would drop considerably as it tried to get past 2k. If I
could get the truck to 2400 or so the power would come back. I tried throwing a
new mechanical pump at it, which, by the way, one can change by jacking up the
engine. Replacing the pump did not fix the problem, then i discovered the
pressure relief valve had some crud in it. The truck ran great after I cleaned
it out and has for the last 12 years.
