Welcome to the new home of MIL-VEH!

If you are reading this message, your address is on the military vehicles
mailing list at its new home, skylee.com.

I am merely the list administrator. I'd like to thank Gerry Davison
<gerry@login.dknet.dk> for getting the ball rolling and I know he will remain
the spiritual father of MIL-VEH.

All list traffic is handled by majordomo, an automated list administration
package which processes commands you send to it via e-mail. So, no human will
see your subscription or unsubscription requests unless there is a problem
(in which case they bounce to me). Instructions on unsubscribing are at the
bottom of this message. If you really get stuck, send the word HELP in the
body of your message to <majordomo@skylee.com> and you'll get back a file
describing all useful commmands. (Majordomo ignores the Subject: line of
administrative messages.)

You can send messages to the list itself at <mil-veh@skylee.com>. In
addition, I have set up aliases so mail to <military-vehicles@skylee.com> and
<mv@skylee.com> will also reach the list. (BTW, capitalization of mail
addresses is unimportant; just make sure they are spelled correctly!)

I have not yet set up a digest (a compilation of list messages sent at
certain intervals), as list traffic is still light. If and when it picks up
and enough of you request it, I'll look into setting it up.

Tonight I will HTMLize the archive of the list's traffic so far and make them
available over the web. I'll post a note when I am done.

Again, I appreciate Gerry getting the list going and look forward to learning
a lot from all of you!

Welcome to the mil-veh mailing list!

If you ever want to remove yourself from this mailing list, you can send mail to <Majordomo@skylee.com> with the following command in the body of your e-mail message:

unsubscribe mil-veh

Here's the general information for the list you've subscribed to, in case you don't already have it:

This is the Info file for the military vehicles mailing list, <mil-veh@skylee.com>, a forum for those who privately own or are interested in military vehicles from any country and of any type, from bicycles to tanks.

Discussion can cover repair of vehicles, buying and selling vehicles and spare parts, weapons, paint, markings, technical documentation, and notification of clubs, parades, and conventions for military vehicle owners. Most any discussion concerning issues of interest to military vehicle collectors is appropriate. Personal attacks are not appropriate, nor are discussions of military matters beyond historical background (sci.military would be better for that).

Military HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle or "Hummer") discussions are certainly appropriate, and there will be some overlap with the list dedicated to civilian Hummer ownership (send "info hummer-list" in the body of an e-mail message to <majordomo@azstarnet.com> for details). Mil-veh will be most appropriate for talking about the numerous versions of the military HMMWV.
