Alvis Stalwart

Dear All,

Hope everyone who went to Beltring 96 enjoyed it as much as I did.

I am currently looking into the possibility of one day, maybe, just maybe,
perhaps buying an Alvis Stalwart - definitely THE sexiest of all green
machines ever built - the main problem being where to keep it...

Anyway, being a six wheel drive beast with a diff between the left and right
side, but with each side driven as one, this creates tyre scrubbing and
transmission wear when driven on the road. So, I got this idea for a six to
two wheel drive conversion - probably using dog clutches in the prop-shafts.

On suggesting this to a Stalwart owner at Beltring he was unimpressed and
reckoned the extra strain put on the one remaining pair of driven wheels
would wear things out more quickly and in the end it just wouldn't be worth it.

Anyone any ideas on this (or heard of any similar modifications).
