Local base Open Day - make mine a 'mog

I have just returned from a Sunday afternoon at a (rare) Open Day at the
Adamstown Depot. MPs, medics, RAE field workshops, RAA (inc artillery
races), Transport sections, etc, were on display. The personal highlight
was spending 20mins in, under, over, behind and in front of a unimog...8
ratios forward and 8 reverse (long throw between 'em & nice clutch), air
assist everything..one day I'll have one of these thanks. My nomination as
the best beast. The Recovery section rolled a mog trayback on it's side
(staged) to show recovery techniques using the 6x6 Mack "towing vehicle".
Plenty of infantry training and APC's slewing in the muddy paddock with
smoke grenades going off... The sig core had their Perentie complete with
computer & dish, and I asked them for any spare AMU's ( Alan Logue are you
reading?-but no help). The G.S. Perentie & Ambulance variants also
displayed. Checked the rear of the 6x6 leaf susp. Not one Series 3 left on
this base.
I talked to retired Transport personnel re Regimental markings etc (yes 11a
Landies had a 3 code -all variants- on the yellow disk). The MPs were also
helpful on this, it making up part of their exams.

I am one happy milvehphile!

PS No response to my last post: how many aussies on this list?
PPS last nights Bush Tucker Man would have to be nominated as the best
piece of video on Land Rover ever. Watch for this episode on Kennedy &
Jacki-Jackie. The budget for this 27 mins of class? Every moment a gem,
courtesy the Aussie taxpayer, whoever he is. It was also the last episode
for a while it seems. Ahhhh...
