Hello all. I am an active duty Navy CPO, TAD to Kadena AFB, Okinawa.
Yesterday I went on a tour of the battle sites here. Fascinating. The tour
included visiting the museum at Kinser Marine Corps Base. The museum was
established a short time ago by seven individuals, and is entirely supported
by their own funds and outside donations. The tour guide, Dave Davenport, was
an Air Force "Tunnel Rat" during Vietnam. Although this post does not deal
directly with military vehicles, I wanted to send out a request for anyone who
has WW2 memorabilia from the Battle of Okinawa, and wishes to donate it to a
museum, PLEASE contact Dave. For those who have not been to Okinawa, the
museum and tour is a must! Contact Dave by writing:

Dave has lived on Okinawa for 22 years. He and his fellow artifact hunters go
out weekly in search of items for the museum. The Japanese built an elaborate
system of tunnels in preparation for the US invasion in 1945. Only about 50%
of the tunnel is open to the public. Pete Ward.
