Greetings Listmembers:

Just a quick heads-up to let you know that I'll be upgrading my
connection in a couple of weeks, give or take. I don't know when
or how long skylee will be down (I hope not longer than a few hours)
but I'll post again when I do. Sometime after that, I'll bring two
other web servers on line and will eventually add SSL support.
Between now and then, I'll upgrade the list software to majordomo
1.94 which fixes some bugs and adds more anti-spam features. I have
added Subscribe and Unsubscribe buttons to <http://skylee.com/mil-veh.html>
but have not fully debugged them. If you test them out, please let
me know how well they work.

Also, I just got my issue of Military Vehicles Magazine (#58)
<http://members.aol.com/mvehicle/home.htm> and it contains a listing
of some web sites of interest, but no pointer to this list. If any
of you know the new editor, Dave Ahl <daveahl@aol.com>, perhaps
you'd drop him a line about our small community (now up to 134
members). Otherwise, I'll be in touch with him. Perhaps we'll get
a mention some time.

Finally, I hope you will indulge me for a moment, and I assure you
that this will be my first and last word on the subject. On page
68 of MVM appears an "Advisory Notice" that begins "The ugly specter
of big government intrusiveness has recently involved our historic
military vehicle hobby." The half-page piece goes on to warn about
increasing Federal scrutiny of mv owners--by the FBI and DoD's
Defense Criminal Investigative Service, up to and including seizure
of collections. We in the US have an election coming up in just a
few days. Though I don't expect this to develop into a political
thread--there are more appropriate fora for that--if you are eligible
to vote here, I urge you to take the World's Smallest Political
Quiz (see below) and then consider carefully whom you will support.
Only by returning to Constitutionally limited government will we
end such harassment and be truly free again.

Harry Browne - Libertarian for President: <http://www.HarryBrowne96.org/>

Just imagine what great equipment we would be able to buy,
nay, be *encouraged* to buy under a Browne Administration.
