Leaking GPW

When I went home this weekend to work on my GPW, I was prepared to do the
final touchup work on the chassis, but when I rolled it out I noticed
puddles of gear oil underneath the steering knuckles. When I first put
oil in the knuckles several months ago it leaked pretty bad, so I drained
them, pulled the bearing caps off and coated the caps and shims with
gasket sealer. I figured this would seal it up nicely. But it persists:
a slow, but potentially messy leak. Did I miss something obvious, or is
this just a "fact of life?" The only other thing I can think of is to
pull the caps back off and remove the four stud bolts and coat them with
soem sort of sealer. Any suggestions?

Mike
