Rollin over a 'Mutt'

I want to keep this in perspective, especially at this time given the M151
issues being discussed with MVPA.

Short wheel base 4x4s will turn over. If you run one wheel up a tree in
almost any vehicle, it will flip. The -A2 series of M151 was engineered to
decrease the tendency of the M151 4 wheel IS system to roll and it is much
better. However, none of these vehicles flop over unless stressed in some way
like side crossing a hill, going in a ditch, up a tree etc. Or a panic turn
and skid. Most of these situations happen primarily with inexperienced or
unlucky drivers. Millions of miles are driven without incident.

Consumer Reports killed off the Suzuki Sidekick with their article about its'
alledged tendency to turn over. The M151 got that repuration which is one
reason why the HMMWV is so wide. A lot of this is over-reacting,
over-protective nonsense like a lot of other things in American society today.

Steve, I am sorry about your wreak and any injuries, but was it really related
to the specific design of the M151 in any way? Would a CJ, Suzuki, MB, M38,
Def 90 etc. acted any different in your opinion?

Been there, done that, don't want to do that again. Actually we hit a tree with
the front wheel and it just walked up the tree and cam'ed over. We had no roll
bar etc. I was thrown out. The driver put his foot down and the Mutt came down
on it. He prevented the M151 from going over...

I actually think that the A2 leans more in a corner than an A1.
