ALL 1/4 ton 4x4's have a nasty habit of wanting to be on their roofs instead
of wheels in a sharp turn or a steep side-grade. I've driven Wranglers,
Suzukies, Willys, DJ's (Postal "Jeeps") as well as the M151A1 and to tell the
truth the DJ was the WORST, and the Suzuki a close second. The Willys was
probably the best. The thing is, I own a M151 and it IS tippy. I've had a
number of close calls before I got used to it. The main focus is the
government is being foolish in trying to exclude the M151 as being more so
than all the rest, not that the M151 isn't tippy. If I wish to say my M151 is
prone to going wheels-up, or to say it was in a previous roll-over, or even
just to make a simple joke about it, I will not stand to be repremanded
because "This is a sensative issue." I've come DAMN close to flipping that
M151 a few times, one time just because I hit a large muddy area in a feild
and was fish-tailing badly when my wheels hit dry dirt again. This is not
because my data plate said M151, it was because I was going too fast. I will
not stop relating to these stories because they may support the M151"s bad
reputation, I mention them because they are funny, or may serve as a warning.
"I remember the time Geoff almost flipped 'cause he was doing this, I'll
stop."
When it comes down to it, to repremand me because of a joke or an example
of a trait being discussed is the same hypocritacal crap I expect from Uncle
Sam.
