M-151A2s everywhere

This ought to get some of you guys' blood pumping. A few months ago I was at
Offutt Air Force Base here in Omaha. (HQ of StratCom) One of the lots in the
DRMO area contained the hulks of dozens of M-151A2s that were awaiting their
turn to be torn apart. Some were already in pieces and in stacks but most
were still untouched except by the weather. (Which can be quite harsh here in
Nebraska) I was told recently that they are still there because a hold was
placed on their destruction.
Most of these were Nebraska National Guard and Reserve vehicles that were
phased out of service. As I walked around sickened and angry at the
sheer, stupid waste of it all I counted 95 M-151A2s of which thirty or so were
already writeoffs but the rest were still entirely servicable. If I could
save them I would but I'm not holding my breath.
