Center is downtown next to river on bluff.
Titanic Exhibit is in town. They will give tours
Memphis Belle is about 1000 yards from Cook convection center. Tours planed.
Casino's about 15 miles from Memphis. Tours planed
Parking will be provided under Cook center and esle with security.
Medical Center is apx 3 miles away.
West Memphis is axp 10 miles straight shot with 1 exit to Cook.
West memphis is the easiest.
I don't know where Tracy City is but I40 has exit to downtown 1 street from
Cook.
Weather HOT and MUGGY.
There is a 30ft wide spiral drive up the back of the Center. They drive Semi
rigs up it.

Subject: MVPA 1997 Convention In Memphis
On behalf of us who are going to the MVPA convention and are not familiar
with Memphis I would like to ask some questions of anyone who is.
1) Could you describe the general vacinity of the convention center?
2) Is parking of things like vans & suburbans a problem in terms of finding
parking, affording parking, and will the stuff left in vehicles be there
when you get back?
3) If one cannot afford $84+ per night what options of those provided in
MVPA handout are advisable? Two cheaper places are listed as 'near the
Medical Center', where is this?
4) There are budget places like Motel 6 and Super 8 listed for West Memphis
(AR) near 40 and 55 junction which apears to be about 5 miles away (although
handout says 20) and also to the east near 40 and 240 which looks like 10
miles. Also some down by airport. Any recomendations?
5) In regard to #4 is it easier (in terms of time, traffic, and agrivation)
to cross the river on 40 to West Memphis or head east, appearently thru the
city, to the area past 240 on 40?
6) Are there any other site seeing attractions for people who are, lets say,
alittle more inteligent/technically minded? Graceland and hotel ducks just
don't cut it for me!
7) If one was going or comming from Tracy City is it better to take I40 &
I24 or hwy 64?
8) Lastly (for now) what can one expect for mid July weather?
