Top Wouter Belgium wanted to know which tools to use in order to restore
his 42 Willys.

At first you need a socket and drive set and a set of wrenches, all in US
inch sizes (imperial ?). Do not buy the cheapes ones which often has poor
quality (bad fit). Regular screwdrivers and probably an impact screw driver
set. In order to loosen rusted bolts you can try an impact screw driver.
Often that won't do, so you have to remove the bolt head and drill it out.
Then you need a set of taps to make new threads. The taps will also be
helpful to clean out rusted threads.

The jeep used bolts with UNC and UNF threads. In order to find out what
type a certain screw is, count the number of threads per inch, and look the
size up in a table. For example a 1/4 UNC screw has 20 threads per inch.

Of cours you need sand blasting equipment to remove rust from the body. If
you are going to restore the engine, drivetrain and/or axles you need some
pullers. For the axles you need some special gauges. You really should buy
a copy of TM10-1513 Willys Maintenance manual (1942 edition is in reprint),
and TM10-1186 Willys master parts list. They include pictures and
descriptions of special tools needed.

The regular tools you should be able to buy in a hardware store or a tool
shop.

I am also restoring av 1942 Ford GPW, which is basically the same vehicle
as the Willys MB.
