I have heard & seen similar for here in Australia.
As an example, two jeep cast brass reconditioning plates:
Allison - Phoenix Ariz Feb 44
Stephenson - Houston TX Feb 45
Also one other Willys trailer plate:
Pacific Builders - Salinas CA Mar 45
So as you would now guess, it wasn't just the big two. There were sub
contractors refurbishing equipment at the same time. We had similar
operations here in Australia. Ours main builders were Ford and General
Motors with Chrysler & Dodge following closely behind.
