[MV] Upgraded list software, new features

_SUBJECTS_

I've upgraded the list software to majordomo 1.94.1, and have made
several changes:

* New subscribers will be asked to confirm their subscriptions by
return e-mail. They'll need to copy and paste a phrase into a message
and mail it back to majordomo, and then they'll be subscribed. I
hope this combination intelligence and dexterity test will reduce
the number of "accidental" subscriptions.

* The tag [MV] is now added to the subject of every message. This
will help you in sorting and searching your mailboxes for list
traffic. I thought about making it [Mil-Veh] but decided to keep
it short so you can see more of the subject. Naturally, I'll change
it to something else if there is a hue and cry.

* Majordomo now adds two lines to the end of every message, describing
the procedure to unsubscribe. Sorry for the added bandwidth usage,
but I need to cut down the misdirected mail I get. If I need to, I
will also add extra headers describing this.

* Before now, I had permitted members to get a list of everyone
else, but I've decided to turn this off. This will be one additional
obstacle to spammers getting your e-mail address. If many of you
want to have a member's directory, I could set up a web page for
it.

* This version of majordomo has altered the administrivia checking,
but I suspect that even more messages will unnecessarily bounce to
me for attention. We'll see how that goes.

* And finally, yes, I have implemented a digest. I don't know if
it works perfectly and I imagine I will have to tweak it, but if
you want to reduce your mail load, I recommend you switch your
subscription. Digests will go out automatically when they reach
~40K in size, or once every morning around 3 AM PST, whichever comes
first.

To change your subscription to the digest, send these three lines
to <majordomo@skylee.com> (note the different administrative address):

subscribe mil-veh-digest
unsubscribe mil-veh
end

Remember, send those three lines to <majordomo@skylee.com>. NOT
<mil-veh-request@skylee.com>. The word "end" tells majordomo that
it has reached the end of the commands it must process. I hope it
all works. Let me know if you run into problems.

I'll be editing the info and intro files this week to reflect these
changes, and will be updating the web site archive soon.
