Hi List,
Yes, we decided to sell the 1/2 ton Dodge Command Car (1941?) to help
clean the yard and generate some $ to work with. The price is $2,500 as
is and it's located in NewFairfield, CT (north of Danbury where I-84
crosses into NY). Going by Tomas Berndt's "Standard Catalog of US
Military Vehicles" rating system it is in #5 condition (restorable). The
missing parts are tailgate, seats, speedometer, canvas & bows, glovebox
door, wooden floorboard, left running board. The damage is dents in the
left side cowling, left rear corner (didn't break the tailight), rusted
appropriate with it's age but is definitely repairable. The part you will
need help with is the left front frame horn which is bent up (about 3")
from plow damage but did not travel past the shock and is an easy pull
for any competent frame man. The winshield frame is complete (no glass)
and works OK, the guages are the round military style (leftmost one
changed to an air pressure guage), and the map board is still there. The
military lights and reflectors are present on the back and so is the
trunklight. We put good fenders on it to replace the severely rotted ones
and they included good inner fenders and proper headlights and blackout
lights so the nose is in very good shape. The chassis looks pretty good
and should clean up well. The rear axle is VERY stubborn to roll but it
did when we got it off the trailer and just doesn't seem to want to
cooperate to move in the yard by human power (maybe the physics of weight
has something to do with it!). The body sides are in great shape and
uncut as is the piece across the back above the tailgate; even the
doorlatches are still there for the rear seats and the strap eyes in the
front. I removed the plow iron from the frame in front and trailer iron
in the rear. The pintle and bumperettes are there with the eye bolts too.
We can see the serial number but haven't had time to match it to a WC#
yet. Overall the truck is in decent shape as a project and worth far more
(according to list and people) than we want but it needs to go to a new
home. First cash on the workbench takes it home.

P.S. I got the e-mail to work at home, thanks for the help.
