The questions requesting updates on the rally are coming in faster than
I can respond, maybe this will help.
The Rally will be the largest yet, over 300 spaces sold, and the last weeks
are usually the busiest anyway. Note, you must have your reservation with
payment in prior to 1 May, there will be no spaces sold at the event!
Larry tucker at "ltuck@juno.com" can be contacted directly for spaces. I have
received e-mail for directions all across the States and quite a few from
Canada, France, Belgium, UK and Norway.
Aberdeen Garrison has a lot going on, it will be a family event, Carnival will
be held same time as Rally, kids games, crafts, Fireworks show Sat night,
folk music and music by the 389th Army band. There will be lots of
static displays of posts vehciles, dynamic displays in front of the theater
will include the launching of a bridge and a Bradley will then drive
across, troops pour out firing blanks. Good stuff. Lots more coming on
line, heaven knows Aberdeen needs some good publicity.
The tour of the vehicle test courses behind the fence is on for 1000 Friday
16 May, drivers must have a helmet of some type, bicycle, CVC motorcyle
are all okay, also goggles if you do not have a windshield. Passengers are
permitted to ride all the way to the test courses, about 5 miles but
will then watch from the side. At the conclusion of the test course ride
everyone joins up for a convoy to the picnic grounds where there will
be a group photo shot and exchnage of mementos with the Aberdeen Test Center
CO COL Bailer. A tour of the Foreign Military Intel Battalion (lots of foreign
vehciles and stuff) is tentatively scehuled for 1400 (2:00pm)
We also have a short parade planned Saturday morning on way to vehcile
display area.
The WWII and other period re-enactors are working something out for
displays in front of the Ordnance Museum.
By public demand the local Aberdeen Defense Reutilization Office will
be open all week, they are saving up stuff now to put out and our Rally
organizers have donated a space for them to put up a table advertising their
wares and giving directions.
E-mail me if you need any more info, I am sorry about not returning all
the calls, but I have a full time job too. E-mail is much more convenient.
Regards
Tom B.
