Here at Sikorsky we paint the helicopters with flat, semi-gloss or gloss in
a variety of colors including OD depending on customer specs using
polyurethane two part epoxy paints. This is very durable finish that resists
everything including jet fuel and still looks good. You can get it at any
good paint supply house in your shade of OD but be VERY careful in using this
material. A GOOD respirator is required, not the cheap-o base model or dust
mask, even when spraying outside. In the booths here, even with downdraft
water venting, the guys are full suited at all times. Read the warnings
carefully and heed what they say. You also need to ask yourself if the cost
is worth the trouble. You can probably repaint your vehicle many times with
standard materials for the price of just the primer under this stuff; which
is the same kind of stuff. We use the zinc chromate variety here at the
Flying S for it's corrosion protection. Hope this helps.
