Hi List,
Just a short note of review on the CT Military Vehicle Collectors Show held
in Naugatuck, CT this past Saturday. In my biased opinion (I ran the show for
the club) it was a very good show with success reported by 99% of the vendors
and the overwhelming majority of the customers I spoke to throughout the day.
You can't please everyone so I'll take these figures as a good day anyday. We
had approx. 40 tables inside the hall and 17 guys outside on multiple spaces
so there was plenty to see and buy. There was a lot of folks leaving with
stuff and several that kept making trips to put stuff in the car and get
more. The show spots had a variety of jeeps, M37's, Duece & 1/2's, and a half-
track plus more I'm sure I missed and a nice showing of civlian trucks too.
The National Guard brought a HUMVEE and 105mm they let the kids pull the
lanyard on shotgun shells in and the Army Reserve set up a tent with full
gear for 5 troops and field phones for the kids to talk over. Two trucks, a
duece and a gama goat were sold to new owners and a restored M37 was
delivered to it's new owner at the show from the shop in Maryland. The
highlight of my day was when a veteran of the 512th Eng. in WW2 presented the
club, through me, a map of their travels in Europe with a unit history and
complete roster hand typed on the back. He then shared his photo album with
me and said he wanted the map preserved by guys who would appreciate it. I
will have it framed, share it with the club at a meeting as soon as it's done
and then we will donate it to the local historical society for display in
their military exhibit. All in all a good day with excellent weather for
April and lots of OD to wade through. I wish you all could have been there,
thank-you to those that were able to make it and please put June 28th on your
calendars now for our Summer Rally in Terryville, CT.

Regards,
Dennis O'Connor
