Todd,
Thanks for the reply, we seem to be near common ground now. Probably always
were but short answers leave room for interpretation and keyboard
conversation is far less comprehensive than actual words. Of course it leaves
time to consider one's words too. I can appreciate your dilema over
information but should point out that not arming people with information
allows unscrupulous vendors and others to continue to take advantage of
people. You can't be everywhere with everyone to help tell genuine from
fraud. I personally share everything with everyone and others in the CT club
do also for the better protection of all.
Those who resort to these practices never sleep so your methods may not be
good for long anyway. The saving grace is that eventually each of these
people are found out and excommunicated by the faithful. As awareness,
popularity and investors looking just for bucks not enjoyment cause demand to
grow, even in a limited market such as MV's, the practice will continue to
grow in scope and sophistication. We (my father and I) watched it happen in
the musclecar market from the time when people would give me their '67
Camaros just to get them out of the yard (before reproduction parts existed)
to it's eventual implosion over prices. Some of the same people that were
"investors" in that market quickly moved to MV's because of the WW2
Anniversary awareness and drove the prices of this genteel hobby through the
roof. Then the sharks move in looking for a quick profit on parts and such
and the judging at shows becomes a vicious fight for bragging rights and
"power". It's a sad thing to see happening again but we can't stop what we
can't control. We simply do the best we can and enjoy our part as we see fit,
attempting to help others along the way if we can.
If you'd like to debate the semantics involved, lets go off-thread. We seem
to have exhausted this subject as a general topic.

Keep the faith,
