Hi all,

I spotted this question on the 4x4 NG today. Thought I'd forward it
to the list members.

I'm a Unimog guy and have only a few sources on them, so can someone
help him out?

The message follows:

FROM: ssamurai@aol.com (SSamurai)
SUBJECT: M422A1 Mighty Mite
DATE: 24 May 1997 05:59:36 GMT
ORGANIZATION: AOL http://www.aol.com

Anyone here have any information on the AMC M422A1 Mighty Mite? I
know a person that has had two of them in his garage now for more than ten
years. He said that they ran perfectly when he parked them, and just
hasn't had time to fool with them since he got married.
They look somewhat like a mini two-door Hummer, with an all aluminium
body and 4 wheel independent suspension w/quarter elliptic leaf springs at
each wheel. It is powered by an V-4 air-cooled engine, backed by a
4-speed transmission and what appears to be a single speed transfercase.
It is *very* small, the data plate shows that it has a 71 inch wheelbase,
an 113 inch overall length and is 60.5 inches wide. It also states that
they were manufactured by the American Motors Corporation.
Does anyone know what branch of the service used this unique little
truck, and what years they were used? Are parts available and where?
These both appear to be complete and in good condition. The owner is
asking $12,000 for the pair...is that a good price?
Thank you for any information that you might be able to give me!

Tom H.

Thanks, Greg
