Trouble with these early wheels is that there are apparently a lot of
Hotchkiss VLTT (Jeep) one piece wheels out there in Europe that people
are passing off as early ones. The most obvious feature is that the
originals have groups of three rivets holding the centre to the rim and
that's the thing to look for, as apparently later ones are welded. I
have four that I'm saving for the GPA (technically wrong as GPA's came
on combat rims but the one piece wheels are easier to seal for an
amphibian with less threads etc to rust) Used to be really common but
people wanted combat rims, then Hotchkiss rims appeared on early Jeeps,
then people with Hotchkiss Jeeps wanted combat rims to make them look
like a 'real' Jeep, so there is not much price premium of original
one-piece over combat rims in the same condition in the UK. I'd like
some original early non-combat 9.00 x 16 wheels for my Dodges if anyone
has some? and VC ones? (no harm in asking) 8-) Gordon, Bergen, Norway
