[MV] M37 engine swaps

Hello the List:

My recently acquired '53 M37 came complete with a blown engine (and
not even the correct original one either). I am considering continuing this
nefarious tradition and installing a more modern engine.

Now I realize that the above statement will offend some of the more
sensitive purists, and to you I offer my humble apologies, but after all it is
MY truck. Hey, I'm a sensitive guy too, so if I can, I'd like to put a Dodge
engine in it. Maybe a 318 cu in? I would like to hear from anyone willing
to share their experiences and recommendations with regard to engine
swaps. I will listen to lmost any ideas except the ones that begin "First
thing you do is get a cutting torch...."

Y'know Paul Caudell at MARS has an interesting solution with the
Hercules 3.7 liter turbo diesel, but I plugged the numbers into a
spreadsheet and an engine that turns only 2800 rpm will not give decent
highway speeds even with the 4.89 gears.

Can we get a discussion started on this subject? Thanks much.
