Does anyone know what color the engines and other driveline components of
U.S. M2/M3 Halftracks were painted? Did the color depend on manufacturere,
or were the engines delivered to the builders already painted? What of the
M9/M5 International Halftracks? Most of those, if I understand correctly,
went to other armies as Lend/Lease. And what of replacement/rebuilt engines?
If anybody knows or even guesses, I'd appreciate hearing about it. Maybe
even someone has scraped a few layers of grunge off one and discovered
original paint lurking underneath?
