[MV] Info needed: M37, GRC-46, generator, radio shelter

I've mostly been a lurker on the MIL-VEH list so far, but I'm starting
to think about my first MV restoration project. It'll probably be 1-5
years before I gather up the necessary money and space, but in the
mean time I'd like to start gathering some information.

I've been collecting and restoring old military radios for a while. I
think my first MV project will be to restore an M37 with a
radio shelter on the back, and install a GRC-46 radio set. That radio
includes an R-392 receiver, T-195 transmitter, and a big pile of
teletype gear. I have the receiver already, so this would really just
be a continuation of an existing project to an obcene extreme. :-)

The M37 is the "right" kind of truck to carry that particular radio
set, according to things I've read. For now, I'm planning to do a
"purist" restoration, but I might change my mind the first time I
drive the truck on the freeway. :-)

Here are my questions:

1. What kind of radio shelter is the "right" one to use? I've seen a
picture, but I think it would be easier to find the right shelter if I
knew the model number.

2. A friend at work told me that this particular setup would need to
tow a generator trailer to power the radio set. I know that the
transmitter needs 28V at 42 amps, and the receiver needs 28V at a 5
amps, but I don't know whether the Army used a 28V generator or a
115VAC generator with some type of DC power supply. I don't know the
power requirements for the teletype gear yet. Does anybody know what
type of generator and trailer are "right" for this setup?

A picture of the truck and shelter can be found at:

A picture of the radio set inside its shelter can be found at:

Both of those pictures are part of the Military Equipment List, which
is a good source of information for people interested in military
radio gear. The list can be found at:

Thanks for any information!
