When I got my M2A1 halftrack ready to run about a year ago, there was a
local parade coming up. I spoke with a couple of the members of the VFW
club and asked them if they would like to ride with me in the parade. When
I pulled up to the post, there were about 12 guys dressed up in uniform
waiting. They told me that earlier in the year they had decided that the
parade had become too long and because of their age (all WWII vets) they
just couldn't walk the distance any more. I loaded them in and they were
just like a bunch of little kids again, playing with the dummy guns, giving
victory signs, wearing my old helmet and having a good time while while
displaying their post colors and the stars and stripes. I got a great
feeling from the small service that I was able to do for these vets and as
a bonus, I received the first place trophy for vehicles in the parade. I
have agreed to haul these guys every year, and with the added vehicles in
my collection hope to have a regular convoy with the vets in each vehicle.

Have a great 4th.
