Jim:
I am doing a frame-up restoration on my M38A1 at present, and all motor
parts and suspension parts are original colors as far as I can tell.
Everything was OD except for the oil filter canister, generator and
starter, which were black. My steering column was also OD. This
particular M38A1 belonged to the South Dakota National Guard before I
acquired it in 1972. I also have an extra frame, engine, transfer,
springs, ect, and all of those were painted OD.
