I have M35A2s for sale. The A3 is a brand new upgraded version available
from AM General for about $100,000. The response to your posting was not
exactaly correct. The LDS-465 is the five ton version of the multi-fuel. The
first version of the 'REO' was the M35 with a gas motor. Next was the M35A1
which had the LDS-427 turbo multi-fuel which had some problems. What you will
find most often is the M35A2 powered by the LD-465 (non-turbo) or the LDT-465
(turbo).
The turbos don't make that much more power the main reason for the turbo was
emissions. A convoy of non-turbos looked like a line of locomotives blowing
black smoke. The multi-fuels were new trucks built that way but I have seen
gassers repowered by the military. The A2s have a tach in a larger instrament
cluster, the repowers have a condensed cluster to make room for the added
tach.
Also around 1968 they switched to an air controlled transfer which locks the
front drive in or out with the flip of a switch instead of the
uncontrollable over- running sprag. Anyway hope this helps. I'm in Virginia
and have quality trucks at some of the best prices.
