On vehicles with fully shielded ignition systems (shielded ignition =
wires, distributor cap, and spark plugs), inductive pickups usually =
won't work at all, unless they're extremely sensitive. An easy way to =
make one work is to disconnect the number one spark plug wire from the =
spark plug and insert an unshielded spark plug wire between the end of =
the shielded wire and the spark plug. You might want some electrical =
tape to hold things in place. Now just put the timing light pickup =
around the unshielded wire. If you want to get fancy, you can get =
'adapters', but why spend the money unless you do this for a living?

Be careful to keep the wires (and your fingers) out of the fan. Secure =
or route the wires so the fan can't hit them.

Subject: [MV] what time is it?

thanks to everyone who wrote in response to my timing question.but now i =
have to decide who's right for setting the degrees.one said 2degrees =
before tdc another said 2deg.after tdc and another person said 6 =
deg.before tdc! i'll try them all once i figure out how your supposed to =
use a modern inductive clamp on those thick plug lines.i tried =
everything i could think of but i could'nt get a reading at all.so i =
phoned around to find an adapter but of course no one has ever heard of =
one. so thats my question: if these adapters don't exist or are super =
rare how do you tune an m-37-m-43 with a modern timing light?
