Just an add-on for those who are going to register a vehicle after proper
paint and marking. Check with your Dept of Motor Vehicles about the legality
of stars and registration numbers etc.. Connecticut has gotten very picky
lately and decided to stop splitting hairs over current style markings versus
old markings and just fails any vehicle with markings (even with antique
plates). A friend had to paint over the markings he had so carefully applied
to his M38 to get it registered. Of course when he got home he did them over
because only the DMV inspectors know the regs or seem to care. But save
yourself the time and agony by making a phone call or two before getting out
the white paint. This probably doesn't apply to people who live in places
where the people in charge are more reasonable (or at least sane).
