Hi Alan, I didn't realise that the Volvo system operated BOTH front
brakes - I thought it was a simple diagonal split.

I suppose your requirements mainly depend on the amount of hard work
your vehicle will be doing. My personal choice was the original
systems plus good maintenance and an understanding that they are
inherently less reliable that modern systems. Since all mine have
transmission handbrakes it is just as well that I'm doing relatively
low milages at less than 55mph.

I have used the front / back split on a car (my GT350) and find it
inherently more prone to failure and maintenance intensive when given
occasional use - not to mention the difficulty in resetting the
position indicator spool valve. I had to buy new stainless calipers,
lines, etc to prevent sticking of the calipers and the indicator light
trigger, plus continual bleeding to reset it. regards, Gordon.
